Duties and Responsibilities:
Auburn University at Montgomery is accepting applications for an HVAC Manager. This position will report directly to the Plant and Facilities Maintenance Manager and will provide technical knowledge and supervisory support related to HVAC maintenance and repair for campus facilities. Under general supervision, provides technical skills and expertise regarding a wide array of building HVAC systems and their associated components to accomplish complex maintenance, repair, and installation tasks.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the work of all personnel engaged in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems and HVAC equipment on campus.
- Manages the day to day operations of HVAC operations and equipment on campus ensuring all repairs and maintenance is performed timely and correctly to provide safe and comfortable spaces on campus.
- Monitors supporting HVAC contractors and oversees special projects as needed.
- Performs HVAC repairs and installs HVAC components in campus buildings and may be required to serve on an on-call status for emergencies.
- Schedules preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and monitors work performed by HVAC employees.
- Develops plans to update HVAC systems and improve efficiencies in operations and energy savings.
- Assists with developing specifications for contracts and purchasing equipment related to HVAC operations.
- Knowledge of facility operations related to HVAC, OSHA regulations, and state contract guidelines.
- Knowledge of working with a work ticket system and Microsoft office software.
- Knowledge of chillers, boilers, AHU's, coils, motors, fans, and pneumatic systems.
- Supervisory skills, along with the ability to communicate tasks and direction to subordinates in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to install, maintain, and repair a wide array of common HVAC systems.
- Ability to train HVAC staff on HVAC systems and safety procedures while performing job duties.
- Valid Driver's License
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years' experience repairing and installing commercial HVAC systems.
- Two (2) years' experience supervising HVAC technicians.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant License
