Duties and Responsibilities:

Auburn University at Montgomery is accepting applications for a Painter Supervisor. This position will report directly to the Facility Trades Manager and will provide technical knowledge, supervision, and support related to painting and repair for campus facilities. Under general supervision, provides journeyman level painting skills and expertise regarding a wide array of painting processes and their associated components to accomplish maintenance, repair, and installation tasks on campus.

The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for the following:
  • Supervises and performs duties related to preparing and painting surfaces using appropriate tools and materials.
  • Procures necessary supplies and equipment in order to maintain proper amounts of inventory needed to perform jobs in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates paint jobs with co-workers and individuals whose work area or facility space will be affected while performing job duties.
  • Applies paints and other finishes to interiors, exteriors, equipment, and furniture using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  • Paints walls, equipment, and university structures, and stains furniture and doors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of proper techniques to paint commercial facilities and surfaces.
  • Knowledge of how to match paint color and sheen for application on surfaces to ensure a professional finish.
  • Knowledge of safety related to using chemicals and products to perform painting tasks.
  • Supervisory skills, along with the ability to communicate tasks and direction to subordinates in a clear and concise manner.
  • The ability to train staff on proper methods to prepare and paint surfaces.
  • Ability to perform painting indoors and outdoors from scaffolding, ladders, or a lift.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years' experience as a Journey level painter.
  • Two (2) years' experience supervising painters or unskilled labor in the painter trade.
