Summary:
The Technical Assistant position provides support to the Multi-Disciplinary Teaching Laboratories (MDL) and the Drosophila Media Prep Facility; this support includes assisting the MDL technicians in the preparation and running of the various biology classes and labs, helping to set up equipment and supplies, cleaning up after labs, and maintenance of computers, audiovisual equipment, and laboratory instruments; Drosophila media production and washroom support when needed.

Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Required: Associate's Degree in science or electronics with 2-4 years' work experience in the field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work in a service oriented department; ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, changing, and often stressful environment; able to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to maintain a clean workplace.
- Ability to measure reagents accurately.
- Ability to operate required equipment, i.e., dishwasher, autoclave, fly kitchen steam kettle and food pump.
- Ability to follow protocols precisely and to produce media according to laboratory guidelines.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Some evenings and weekends may be required.
- Possesses the willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
