Perform specialized duties in the administration of student financial aid services and
serve as an advisor to student aid recipients; responsible for interpreting complex rules, regulations, procedures and policies and explaining them to students, parents, and outside entities; responsible for complex decisions requiring initiative and judgment in responding to individual student needs.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Review results of financial aid applications and accompanying documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and where inaccuracies are found make corrections before processing; enter new/revised data into computer system, maintain files, and review reports for completion. Review information from federal databases (NSLDS, INS, and Selective Service) to comply with federal rules and regulations.
- Interview students to determine financial aid needs and make recommendations based on those needs; assist students with completion of applications.
- Ensure all incoming student documents are accurate and complete. Prepares documents for lmageNow scanning and updates items in PeopleSoft for verification processing.
- Advise students of issues that may need to be resolved in order to continue or reinstate eligibility; assist in the registration process as it relates to financial aid eligibility and other special programs.
- Reviews website, ensuring all financial aid links are working and accurate. Makes recommendations for improvements.
- Maintains financial aid and call center mailbox
- Assist with workshops and presentations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma
- Financial Aid Office experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal and State student financial aid programs.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to multi-task.
- Good communications and public relations skills.
- Ability to work independently in a high pressure environment with strong telephone etiquette skills.
