Job Summary

The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will lead the implementation of a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B) strategy that aligns with all elements of our student, faculty, and staff life cycle (enrollment, talent attraction, onboarding, development, engagement, compensation, and retention). The DEI Director will serve as a leader, advisor, and designer of best practices in support of the university's DEI&B programs and will work collaboratively with peers in the schools and units to align DEI&B efforts across the university.
  • Assesses and understands the needs of our schools/units, combined with university-wide goals and objectives, to identify university-wide solutions. Gathers, researches, and analyzes data for use in statistical calculations and reporting of diversity goals. Consults with Business and HR leaders to develop and integrate analytics-driven DEI&B strategies.
  • Participates in and advises the university's recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups. Monitors, evaluates, and assesses adequacy of diversity of candidates in the hiring and screening process. Works with Enrollment Services, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and the Division of Human Resources to develop recruitment strategies that attract underrepresented candidates.
  • Enhances and builds current or new programs and processes to ultimately improve university diversity efforts related to student enrollment/retention, talent attraction, on-boarding, development, engagement, compensation, and retention.
  • Develops and implements campus wide training to promote cultural understanding and competency and a climate of equity, inclusion and belonging.
  • Creates and moderates opportunities for honest and practical dialogue around DEI&B.
  • Partners with key stakeholders across the university to launch and support the local activation of initiatives. Provides support to DEI&B committees, councils, and multicultural event programming.
  • Promotes university's commitment to a climate of diversity, equity, and inclusion through interaction with individuals and agencies internally and externally.
  • Partners with public relations, employment marketing, and corporate brand/marketing groups to establish DEI&B as a core brand attribute to customers, external communities, and potential employees.
  • Communicates with DEI&B leadership team on strategy, direction, change, measures, and results. Supports the expansion and visibility of DEI&B initiatives across the university and all functions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, education or related field and eight (8) years of related work experience, or Master's degree in business, education or related field and six (6) years of related work experience.
