Job Summary

Gateway Community & Technical College invites applications for a CDL Instructor. This full-time faculty position will be responsible for CDL-A classroom and road instruction, monitoring and documenting student progress and attendance for Gateway Community & Technical College located in Northern Kentucky.

Job Duties:
  • Provide instruction so CDL students are well-educated and able to pass their written CDL-A permit test, as well as their pre-trip, skills, and road tests.
  • Continually evaluate student performance and document their progress through attendance forms and checklists.
    While monitoring student progress, identify any gaps and provide additional help as needed.
  • Emphasize safety concepts, principles, and procedures.
  • Ensure that the trucks are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
  • Provide Gateway CDL students with quality training, while maintaining organized records and other various departmental responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class A license
  • 2+ years CDL-A driving experience
  • In-depth knowledge of, and superb ability to teach, every aspect of truck driving.
  • Experience in and understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Teaching experience is a plus.
  • Experience working at the community college level is preferred.
