DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION (DEI) ASSISTANT, School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (SHASS)-Dean’s Office (part-time, 20 hrs/wk., to perform complex administrative support functions for the SHASS DEI assistant dean. Responsibilities include scheduling complex meetings, distributing materials, and reviewing follow-up actions; providing meeting management and taking notes; ordering supplies; verifying budget expenses, reconciling monthly accounting, and identifying and resolving discrepancies in accordance with MIT financial policies and procedures; preparing and submitting Institute forms for expense reimbursements, event registration, travel reconciliation, space reservations, etc; generating promotional materials/advertising for events; assisting with correspondence to external program email aliases; developing content for and updating program websites; assisting with the development and facilitation of DEI meetings and training sessions to help advance continuous learning; assisting with the development of metrics to help measure impact of DEI initiatives; assisting with shaping and advancing DEI efforts at SHASS; and supporting the development and implementation of DEI programs.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma; at least three years of direct/related work experience and wide-ranging knowledge of office procedures, including experience with event planning, travel arrangements, financial transactions, scheduling, and customer service; ability to independently organize, prioritize, and carry out detailed procedures in a busy office setting with minimal supervision; initiative; flexibility; ability to manage a high volume of work; excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail; comfort working in a highly diverse environment and ability to build productive working relationships with a wide range of people; discretion, tact, and good judgment when handling confidential information; and experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel software and ability to quickly learn and navigate databases.
