Director of Athletic Communications

The Athletic Department at Messiah University is now accepting applications for a Director of Athletic Communications.

Responsibilities:  The Director of Athletic Communications is responsible for providing information to national and conference offices, opponents, Messiah University publics, and news outlets regarding the athletics program and for executing home competition operations. Director of Athletic Communications serves as a role model in meeting our complimentary goals of “Pursuing Athletics Excellence…Developing Christian Character.”

Qualifications: Master’s Degree (preferred fields of study include Athletic Administration, Sports Journalism, and/or Sport Management). Minimum of one-year experience in writing and statistics

Skills and Characteristics: Ability to administer components of sports information work (e.g., statistics, news media, web site, publications); Ability to train student workers to aid in meeting sports information needs; Ability to speak and write appropriately and develop marketing strategies to reach regional and national media and supporters; Demonstrate a commitment to continued learning/professional development (e.g., presentations, publications, serving on regional and/or national committees).
