Job Description
Basic Function &Responsibilities:
Develops, maintains, and supports computer systems, software, and networks. Functions include enterprise operations, distributed computing, academic computing, research computing, computer hardware and software management, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development, database administration, server administration, website development/management programming, desktop support and help desk operations.
Job Functions:
- Maintains and supports computer systems, software, and hardware. Installs, completes break/fix support, develops, and deploys computer equipment. Coordinates with customer(s) on request(s) in a timely fashion. Researches and provides reliable system solutions and installations.
- Provide end-user device support by serving as an information resource related to various device and peripheral systems, including PC, Mac, Linux, and mobile device operating systems and application programs.
- Directs students on the support, testing, and installation of computer systems, software, and hardware to provide technical support and assistance campus wide.
- Researches, collaborates with others, and recommends efficient best practice processes and alternative solutions to enhance the ability of the department's effectiveness.
- Performs other job-related duties asassigned.
Expected to perform duties under limited supervision. Most normal duties and responsibilities are handled independently with the use of established procedures and policies. Difficult or unique situations are referred to the supervisor or supervising departmental designee.
SupervisionExercised:
Work leadership - Supervises students only. Provides guidance and leadership to employees and/or students for daily activities and assigned projects or tasks. Participates in evaluation of personnel performance (does not directly supervise). May have project management responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diplomaor equivalentrequired.
- Experience with broad range of LAN and device knowledge skills and expansive knowledge of device/ workstation hardware/ software/ operating systems.
