Horticulture Lab Technician
This position will support the Horticulture Technology Program and maintain its classrooms/laboratories, greenhouse, teaching areas and other facilities.
- Maintain the greenhouses, classroom/laboratories
- Assists with crop scheduling, handles sales, handle ordering of program supplies
- Handle supply and equipment purchasing for the Horticulture Program
- Assist with preparing laboratories for class.
- Maintain computer controls and performs research on crops as needed.
- Maintaining all facilities and teaching areas
- Prepare materials for instructional labs.
- Maintain safety in labs and with all chemicals and horticulture products;
- Supervise, schedule P-14s, student hires, work study students, and volunteers
- Ability to maintain numerous horticulture facilities;
- Ability to use horticultural and scientific tools and equipment;
- Basic knowledge of computer programs;
- Basic laboratory skills;
- Content knowledge of horticulture;
- General knowledge of greenhouse operation and crop scheduling;
- Possess horticulture lab skills;
- Understand lab safety and pesticide safety.
- Experience in any of the following horticulture fields: horticulture, nursery, greenhouse, agriculture, farming, landscaping, botany, floriculture, viticulture, arboriculture, forestry or related fields.
- Experience with purchasing and maintaining inventory.
- Experience working in a laboratory/classroom setting.
