Job Description
General Description:
Under the direction of the Associate Director, the Instruction and Technology Librarian has responsibility for overall management of the library instruction program. This position provides faculty consultation, student reference support, and instructional technology support.
Duties and Tasks:
Manage library instruction program for the Annandale Campus.
Provide consultation, reference services, and course-integrated instruction in person and virtually.
Troubleshoot and provide technology support.
Provide staff supervision and training.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
KSAs:
Knowledge of library systems and practices.
Ability to provide effective library instruction and excellent customer service.
Strong organizational and technology skills.
Good written and verbal skills.
Knowledge of course management systems such as Canvas and library software programs such as ALMA and SpringShare.
Ability to work independently and be flexible.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in library and/or information science.
Qualifying degrees and coursework must be a from a regionally accredited institution.
Relevant library instruction and/or academic teaching experience.
Reference experience.
Collection development experience.
At least one year of supervisory and leadership experience, preferably with full-time employees.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Library Science degree awarded by an institution accredited by the American Library Association.
Design and management of effective library instruction program.
Experience with qualitative and quantitative design methodology.
Experience reporting and using statistical data.
Familiarity with digital archives projects.
