General Description:
This position will perform a variety of maintenance projects and preventative maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry. If needed, campus may vary.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Tasks may include the installation, repair and maintenance of multiple building systems.
  • Assist other trades, perform safety checks, emergency response, maintain and order supplies and perform other duties as assigned.
  • The duties include daily inspections and maintenance of campus buildings; performs minor building repairs; responds to work orders to make minor repairs to electric, plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • The position will entail working in diverse college settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products.
  • Candidate must be able to work with other trades.
  • Performs inspections, repairs, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
  • Able to determine equipment, parts, and supplies needed to complete assignments.
  • Completes work orders in a timely manner and records information in the computer maintenance management system.
  • Must report and be on campus during deemed weather-related events and emergencies to protect and restore campus grounds to operational condition, which may entail extended hours of work, snow and ice removal.
  • Inspect facilities daily report and conduct repairs or maintenance as needed.
Required KSAs:
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions independently.
  • Understand how to use a variety of hand tools and power tools properly and safely.
  • Able to work from ladders and scaffolds, to diagnose and repair a variety of building systems.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to function in close quarters, or cramped environment
  • Ability to read technical documents, drawings and blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office suite.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Possesses good communication skills.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in building trades ( electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry) .
  • Experience in any maintenance work order system.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment and preventive maintenance operation.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
Additional Considerations:
  • Experience working in a commercial and/or education building setting.
  • Experience as journeyman technician in a maintenance trade.
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Experience working in a college setting
