The Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure-track Investigator at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor. The Department has a rich, decades-long history in cardiovascular epidemiology and prevention research, and is a leader in the field internationally. We specifically seek investigators who use population science techniques and tools to address one or more of the following areas in cardiovascular epidemiology, aging, and prevention research:
- Conducting etiologic and prognostic research relevant to cardiovascular disease and aging with integration of omics and/or imaging data
- Associations between early life phenotypes and adult health outcomes including CVD, cardiometabolic, renal and/or cognitive outcomes
- The contribution of social determinants (e.g, education, income or accumulated wealth, occupational characteristics, and social inequality) to cardiovascular disease and/or chronic diseases across the life course
- Risk factors for cardiometabolic disease, their treatment, and outcomes
- Risk assessment strategies for prevention of cardiovascular disease
- Intervention studies for prevention of cardiovascular disease
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining an independently-funded research program, collaborating with other faculty and contributing to the educational mission of the institution by teaching courses or mentoring pre- or post-doctoral students. The full time position is based in the Feinberg School of Medicine on the Chicago lakefront campus.
Qualified candidates will: hold a doctoral degree in epidemiology, medicine, other disciplines of public health, psychology or a related field with substantial experience in population research studies; have demonstrated original scholarship in cardiovascular epidemiology; possess excellent written and communication skills as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, grants, and presentations at professional meetings; have a demonstrated track record of independent, extramural funding for their research program, including federal funding; and have the potential to maintain external research funding to support their research program.
