Old Dominion University's Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership in the Darden College of Education & Professional Studies invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Community College Leadership beginning July 2023. Applicants should be comfortable teaching in both our Community College Leadership Program and Higher Education Program. We invite scholars at the assistant professor level who are interested in community college leadership and higher education. Old Dominion University has the Research 1 Classification, indicating “very high research activity,” from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, placing it among the highest level of research institutions in the United States.
Candidates for this position should exhibit the ability to engage in a rigorous research agenda on topics related to the community college, publish in peer-reviewed research journals and outlets, and generate research-related grant activity. The candidate for this position is expected to teach synchronous distance courses and face-to-face courses for students in the Community College Leadership Program and the Higher Education Program. Responsibilities
• Engage in scholarly activity (e.g., publications in peer-reviewed journals, grant activity)

• Lead and serve on doctoral dissertation committees

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university in community college leadership, higher education, or a closely related field by September 2023.
Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching synchronous, distance classes
• Experience serving on and leading dissertation committees
• Experience working at a community or technical college
• Potential to obtain federal, state, and/or private grants and contracts and manage funded projects
