Assists with the government relations and community outreach function of the College, under the supervision of the Director of Governmental Relations and Community Outreach. Supports the government affairs and community engagement strategy that advances the College's mission and goals with local, regional, state, and federal elected officials and organizations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office-related equipment, such as but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- One to two years of college credit (30 credit hours are equivalent to one year)
- Two years of experience in public administration, government relations, community engagement and/or related area is required.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, public relations, English, political science, public administration, or other related fields preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work across departments, independently and as a team
- Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple projects at a time
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to coordinate government relations and community outreach functions, related to internal and external events/activities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Coordinates community and government relations efforts, as assigned.
- Fills in as needed for the Director of Governmental Relations and Community Outreach.
- Updates and uploads content to the College website for the Community Outreach page.
- Creates memos and letters for community outreach and government relations efforts.
- Writes talking points for College president and vice president of EACA.
- Writes social media posts for the College's social media platforms related to community outreach and government relations efforts.
- Monitors and maintains a database of the College's external partners.
- Takes, prepares and proofreads notes at meetings related to the Office of Government Relations and Community Outreach.
- Demonstrates a high level of knowledge and discretion involving external partners.
- Coordinates and participates in related community outreach and government relations events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
