Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) Library, located in Camden, NJ seeks engaged and productive candidates for the position of library specialist. The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide administrative and budget support, circulation and access services, and document delivery.
The CMSRU Library plays a central role in supporting the academic, research, and clinical enterprises of Cooper University Hospital and CMSRU, as well as its individual students, residents, faculty members, and staff. The library is part of the Rowan University Library system and works closely with colleagues from Campbell Library at Rowan University and RowanSOM Health Sciences Library on services and collections.
This position is located in the main CMSRU Library within Cooper Hospital and currently reports to the director of the CMSRU Library.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties include:
- General Administrative Support duties include assisting library director with processes for capturing and reporting of library statistics, supporting meetings by preparing and disseminating agendas and meeting minutes, processing librarian conference and continuing education reimbursements, remaining current in Rowan travel processes and the online Concur system, and working with the CMSRU Office of Medical Education to order supplies for CMSRU Library satellite location.
- General Budget Support duties include submitting invoices to Cooper Accounts Payable and tracking payments, maintaining a hospital library grant fund spreadsheet, assisting with the collections budget spend-down in ALMA (integrated library system), assisting with Rowan Accounts Payable and requisitions, and managing the Medical Library Association Electronic Transfer Fund Service (EFTS) system.
- Circulation and Access Services duties include providing coverage at the Circulation Desk, covering the Library Chat Service, assisting with overdue notices, supporting the processing of books, assisting with biannual inventory, and assisting faculty, staff, and students in navigating the library website and resources, and maintaining library research guides.
- Special Projects as identified.
- Expertise in all Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Exceptional customer service and relationship building skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
- Three (3) years of experience in work involving the processing of technical clerical work which involves independent interpretation of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- 1-3 years of experience in a health sciences library or medical education environment
- Experience with Banner and Concur software
- Familiarity with health sciences/biomedical resources
- Open to current employees in the competitive division who have an aggregate of one year of continuous permanent service as of the closing date in any competitive title and meet the required experience listed above.
- For promotions, this would be a provisional opportunity pending exam.
