Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Multimedia Technician in the Office of Event Technical Services.
Primary Job Duties: The Multimedia Technician will provide technical support for events held on and off campus. The position will assist Coordinator in determining equipment usage and setup needs as required and supervise student employees in absence or delegation of coordinator. Coordinates Student worker trainings, and supervision of student employees, overseeing interns. Setup and operate lighting, sound and AV equipment as needed for various events including but not limited to theatrical lighting equipment, professional sound reinforcement equipment, basic computer and presentation equipment, basic carpentry, small scale network management, basic electronic theory and basic electrical wiring. Meets and communicates with clients, SU faculty and staff. Performs equipment installations and repairs. Performs inventory control.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors in related field i.e. media, audio, fine arts. One-year experience in maintaining, operating and improving sound reinforcement equipment, theatrical lighting equipment and audio-visual equipment.
Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Knowledge of mechanical and operation aspects of theatrical lighting instruments and dimmer systems, sound reinforcement systems, basic electricity and wiring conventions, and audio-visual equipment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; The ability to initiate creative solutions, work independently or as part of team, project positive and professional image, and cope with diversified responsibilities in a work environment that requires flexibility; must be comfortable on 25' lifts and ladders and be able to lift and hang lighting and sound equipment and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of AV IT networking including DANTE protocol and CAD and audio editing is desired.
This is a full-time, non-exempt State position with a full benefits package. Starting salary is $21.50 per hour which is approximately $44,843 annually. For new employees and promotions, there is a 2.5% salary increase after satisfactorily satisfying the probationary period.
