Position Details:
This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.
The TCU Department of Theatre seeks an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice for a newly-created position in our nationally-ranked Musical Theatre program starting August 14, 2023. This full-time, nine-month faculty position is annually renewable, non-tenure track, and includes a full benefits package and promotion track. This faculty member is expected to be on campus and in person fulltime. Committee will begin to review applications on June 5, 2023. The position will remain open until filled.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Music Direction for one musical each semester:
• accompanying rehearsals
• singer/actor coaching
• conducting while playing piano or keyboard for performances
• contracting professional musicians
- Regular teaching of Musical Theatre Theory I & II (one class per semester) – includes sight-singing
- Accompaniment for the TCU Department of Theatre, including but not limited to: approximately two Musical Theatre performance classes each semester; end-of-semester BFA juries; BFA entrance auditions
- Other duties as assigned
- Outside service and scholarship/creative activity are encouraged, but not required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree
- Excellent keyboard, sight-reading, and accompanying skills
- Experience in music direction and conducting
- Arranging and orchestration skills
- Solid knowledge of musical theatre repertoire
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- A passion for collaboration and mentoring students
PREFERRED:
- Graduate degree or 5+ years of professional musical theatre experience
- Experience teaching Music Theory for Musical Theatre students
- Professional contracting skills
- Knowledge of Mainstage and/or other keyboard programming software
