JOB SUMMARY
The University of Connecticut is seeking applications for the full-time position of Assistant Director of Equipment Services/Director of Women's Ice Hockey Operations. This position will report directly to the Associate Director of Athletics/Equipment Services and the Head Coach of the Women's Ice Hockey Program. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for day-to-day equipment and operation functions for the Women's Ice Hockey Program.

This is a full-time, permanent position. The incumbent must have the ability to work flexible and irregular hours including nights and weekends, with travel required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assistant Director of Equipment includes, but is not limited to:
- Fit and properly maintain all protective equipment.
- Skate sharpening and repair.
- Practice and game coverage for Women's Ice Hockey equipment.
- Oversee all procurement, receipt, and inventory of equipment, apparel, and accessories.
- Prepare equipment and apparel for training, practice, and competition.
- Launder and distribute apparel for training, practices, and competition.
- Maintain inventory of all uniforms, apparel, equipment, and accessories using a cloud-based inventory system.
- Attend training sessions, conventions, and meet with manufacturing representatives to obtain continuing education units, and stay on top of industry trends.
- Follow all necessary NOCSAE (National Operating Committee for the Standards of Athletic Equipment) guidelines related to any reconditioning of equipment.
- Collaborate with Athletic Training and Sports Medicine groups related to any special equipment needs that may arise.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with coaches to create and distribute all schedules and itineraries related to team activities.
- Assist coaches and business services personnel to manage all aspects of team travel, which include team transportation, lodging, and additional aspects as defined.
- Work with coaches to coordinate all team meals throughout the week, including meals at home and on the road during the season.
- Aid with the Office of Athletic Compliance and Business Services area to manage team-related paperwork and receipts.
- Facilitate with coaches to coordinate and schedule team events throughout the year.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the team video editing system and operation of cameras, along with requirements for pre- and post-game setup.
- Help visiting teams with any necessary video setup.
- Support coaching staff in various fundraising initiatives.
- Upload film and get to coaches as needed/requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two years of postgraduate experience in the sport of hockey with a concentration in equipment/team operations.
- Knowledge of athletic equipment and its proper use.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards for blood-borne pathogens.
- Certified through the Athletic Equipment Managers Association, or possess the ability to become certified.
- Familiarity with applicable NCAA and affiliated conference rules and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Three years of postgraduate experience in the sport of hockey with a concentration in equipment/team operations.
- Supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of computerized inventory systems.
