JOB SUMMARY
The University of Connecticut, School of Fine Arts, Digital Media & Design (DMD) Department, invites applications for an Educational Program Assistant 1. Under the primary direction of the Educational Program Coordinator (EPC), the successful candidate will provide programmatic and administrative support to the Department in Stamford, including managing operations, allowable purchasing, record keeping, outreach, and recruitment for the DMD program. This individual will assist the Associate Director of DMD Stamford, with occasional travel to the Storrs Campus. The incumbent is expected to work independently, within the defined guidelines established by the program and the supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a full-time position in the UCPEA Union. Scheduled work hours may include occasional evening or weekend commitments. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and expertise. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the program representative for potential applicants, current students, campus staff, community partners, and the general public and act as a liaison between the program and other University offices.
- Facilitate student recruitment and admissions processes in coordination with EPC, department faculty, School of Fine Arts staff, and campus staff. Coordinate open houses, workshops, visit days, and other departmental outreach events. Assist with program promotion including advertising, open houses, information sessions, and other activities.
- Maintain statistics for departmental metrics including enrollments, applications, requests for information, class size, and course scheduling. Prepare and organize data in support of the DMD program.
- Oversee, delegate, and mentor student workers and monitor and track work product.
- Facilitate routine purchases and process purchases with the University ProCard, liaising with the SFA Financial Services Office to assure compliance with allocated budgets and University procurement policies. Serve as a resource for faculty on travel and reimbursement policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and market internal events for the DMD student community, including guest speakers, professional development workshops, and master classes.
- Help to maintain the departmental website and social media accounts.
- Oversee the Department's campus Media Cage (A/V equipment checkout system). Monitor inventory and order equipment and supplies as needed.
- Offer support to the Storrs DMD Educational Program Coordinator for departmental tasks.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experiences.
- Up to one year of experience that demonstrates knowledge of administrative processes working independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Google equivalents.
- 1 to 3 years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of administrative processes.
- Experience in a higher education academic setting.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student, administrative, and faculty populations and provide a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting.
- Experience with audio/visual equipment and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Customer service experience.
