CONTEXT OF THE JOB: The Assistant Director, Intramural Sports is a valued member within the University and Department of Athletics and Community & Campus Recreation (DACCR), upholding and embracing the departmental mission of Achieving Excellence Together. Under the limited direction of the Associate Director, Programs and Partnerships, the Assistant Director will oversee a comprehensive and high-quality intramural program within the Division of Athletics and Recreation Services at the University of Delaware. The position's main function is to collaboratively manage a comprehensive Intramural Sports program that includes thousands of students and approximately thirty leagues/events per year. This includes but is not limited to scheduling, supervising, and training student officials, and the direct oversight of program implementation (rule interpretation, disputes, protests, and eligibility). Responsibilities will also include game night management to ensure quality controls are being met.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Intramural Sports Administration
- Manage day-to-day operations of Intramural Sports, to include scheduling, supervision and evaluation
- Manage scheduling and membership software (IMLeagues).
- Use effective communication methods with participants. Conduct analysis on all program rule/policy revisions and disputes.
- Develop comprehensive budget analysis based off current participation statistics and present necessary recommendations to supervisor.
- Evaluate/monitor intramural space utilization, program costs, and funding needs.
- Coordinate facility availability and schedule all Intramural events and programming efforts.
- Manage Intramural budget to effectively support Intramural programming.
- Responsible for purchasing of Intramural equipment and apparel.
- Coordinate with External Relations staff to promote Intramural and campus programming opportunities.
- Provide on-site supervision for Intramural events.
Student Staff Management
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate the student workers who perform as officials, scorekeepers and game supervisors.
- Regularly meet with staff to assess performance levels.
- Develop curriculum and measurable evaluation tools for intramural officials. clinics and training.
- Use Workforce to process and approve bi-weekly payroll.
- Use SubItUp to create and manage weekly staff scheduling.
- Obtain appropriate staffing levels at all Intramural games. Collaborate with HR Liaison to manage hiring process for all Intramural staff.
- Programming Collaborate with university contacts including (but not limited to), Student Life, Center for Counseling and Student Development, Student Health Services, Res Life, and Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership to offer collaborative programming opportunities that benefit the entire campus.
- Responsible for the development of a comprehensive package of inclusive programming opportunities for the university community.
Risk Management
- Implement policies and procedures that will reduce and minimize risk for those participating in the Intramural Sports program.
- Manage a documented system for regular safety/maintenance checks of all equipment and facilities used by the intramurals program.
- Maintain appropriate student staff supervision for all Intramural activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration or related field with three years of experience in collegiate recreation/intramural programming.
- High level of organizational, communication and computing skills (internet literacy, scheduling software, basic office applications). Good judgment/decision-making required.
- Knowledge of team and individual sports.
- High level of sensitivity and conflict resolution skills to deal with issues in an objective, fair and assertive manner as they arise. First Aid/CPR instructor certification strongly preferred.
- Experience training sport officials.
- Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures and backgrounds.
