This project is the first stage of a larger study. In this phase we are interviewing county judge executives and public library administrators in Kentucky to see how they select, train, and work with trustees, especially now that KRS Bill 167 is active (allowing judge executives to select trustees). It is important to understand trustee relationships and processes, especially considering the escalation of book banning attempts nationwide, and the fact that trustees are involved in deciding what happens in book challenges. In later phases of the study, we will be surveying trustees nationwide and there may be ongoing research assistant opportunities for interested candidates.

We are looking for someone detail-oriented, reliable, comfortable with scheduling and transcription activities, and who has an interest in participating in library research efforts. You will need to obtain ORI certification for Responsible Conduct of Research & Scholarly Activity as part of this position.
