Job Summary
UK Innovate and the Office of Technology Commercialization ( OTC) at the University of Kentucky strives to embed an inclusive innovation ecosystem that supports innovators from diverse backgrounds with innovations to serve diverse communities; conducts its commercialization activities to create a partnership culture that is focused on strong relations with our stakeholders through transparency and customer service; and leverages a person-centered approach to support experiential academic learning and community engagement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a capacity for creative thinking, self-direction, and problem-solving; and command superb verbal, written, interpersonal, and public communication skills.
The Social Innovation Program Manager will report to the Associate Director of Social Innovation and work collaboratively with other team members to support the advancement of innovations for sustained social impact. The manager will identify commercialization partnership targets, assess and pursue market feedback, and commercialization opportunities. This position will support the Associate Director in advising UK and community (through Launch Blue) start-ups on early stage technology development, business formation, funding & partnership opportunities, and provide support in collaborating with innovators to assess, advise, and implement commercialization strategies. The primary responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to: program coordination, reporting, providing outreach and support for commercialization plans following disclosure; and soliciting interest with partners ready to negotiate and execute license, option or other commercialization agreements.
Growth in SI commercialization and SI startup activities is a priority at UK and serves as a major performance metric for the research enterprise in the University's 2020-2025 strategic plan.
