Job Summary
The Washington, D.C based Program Manager for the WilDCats at the Capitol program is the point of contact responsible for managing and facilitating the University of Kentucky's (UK) academic and internship program during the fall, spring, and summer terms. Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Federal Relations and Institutional Research Priorities and the Director of the Stuckert Career Center, the Program Manager facilitates internship placements in Washington, D.C., for undergraduate and graduate students from diverse academic disciplines with various host institutions. The Program Manager fosters and maintains relationships with DC-based UK alumni, the Political Science Department, the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration, and other contacts as they specifically relate to the WilDCats program internships, guest speakers, and mentors. In coordination with the Assistant Vice President for Federal Relations and Institutional Research Priorities, the Program Manager builds new connections and promotes alumni and stakeholder engagement in program planning, professional development activities, and program growth.
The Program Manager ensures smooth day-to-day program operations. The Program Manager collaborates with a third-party housing provider to place students in housing and resolve issues as they arise. The Program Manager initiates purchases for the program and submits purchase requests. The Program Manager collects data for programmatic assessment each semester. In addition, the Program Manager represents UK to external groups, including the Washington Program Consortium and D.C. government entities.
The Program Manager will work with the UK Stuckert Career Center to design and implement effective strategies to manage the WilDCats at the Capitol. This will include expanding outreach to employers in the area to increase opportunities for internships and full-time positions and supporting students who are interning in the area outside of this program. In addition to administering the internship program, the Program Manager also works with the UK Stuckert Career Center and UK Admissions to implement a student recruitment program designed to meet enrollment goals in the geographic area with specific student populations.
The Program Manager is responsible for the integrity and rigor of the WilDCats at the Capitol program's curricular, co-curricular, experiential learning, and student development dimensions. Develops outreach and recruitment strategies, manages the application processes, and develops and implements supporting documentation, assessment, and communication functions related to the program.
Please note: this position requires a Master's Degree and three (3) years of related experience. The University of Kentucky accepts other combinations of education and experience as qualifying equivalencies. Examples of qualifying equivalencies for this position are:
Bachelor's Degree + five (5) years of related experience
Associate's Degree + seven (7) years of related experience
Related experience for this position includes: program administration; student support; recruitment; internship placement and coordination; instructional design; and/or student success activities
