The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Program Manager to join the Masters Programs Office. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.
The Program Manager is responsible for the support of all programs, including supporting the Full-Time MBA program at College Park and managing events across MBA programs – FTMBA, Flex and Online MBA programs. The Program Manager will be the main contact and support for the Full-Time MBA students which includes academic advising, course registration, graduation, and other program-related issues. The position will assist in managing and enhancing the overall MBA student experience through event support to ensure positive student satisfaction. As such, this individual will be responsible for events designed for the MBA programs such as community lunches/dinners, feedback roundtables and focus groups as well as other student community events. The position will also be responsible for major MBA student events, including orientations/opening residencies, commencements, graduation celebrations, capstone courses and other on-campus student learning events.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required with 3-5 years progressive-related professional experience; 1+ years of experience coordinating events, conferences, or management training programs. Experience working in higher education, ideally with a graduate business school. Friendly, flexible, service-oriented manner. Exceptional organizational and time management skills; advanced computer skills and attention to detail; strong customer service skills. Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to integrate ideas and concepts; ability to manage multiple projects; ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, corporate clients, executives and staff; ability to respond positively under pressure and workload; ability to work in a highly independent manner at times across functions within the school; sound judgement. Preferences: Master’s degree preferred.
Other: This position requires the candidate to possess and maintain a Driver’s License valid in the State of Maryland and have the ability to travel to the College Park, Baltimore, Shady Grove, and Washington, and DC campuses. This position requires regular evening hours and occasional weekend hours.
