Job Description

The role of the AEGD Residency Coordinator exists to ensure patient service, necessary and timely communication with all stakeholders (patients, residents, residency director, Advanced Education Office), and the coordination/administration of the AEGD Residency Program. The residency coordinator's primary purpose is to facilitate a positive patient experience by managing appointments, addressing inquiries, facilitating treatment plans, and handling administrative tasks related to patient care and resident education. Ultimately, they play a crucial role in maintaining patient satisfaction, supporting residents and their progress, and the overall smooth operation of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency program.
  • Answer clinic phone calls, after-hours messages and emails – including referrals from within the dental school and from private practice health care professionals; route information to appropriate person(s) in a timely manner and answer routine office inquiries using knowledge of office policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate referral completeness for patients within the dental school and from external private practice before scheduling a consultation appointment. Request necessary documents from the referring sources and schedule appointment with the Radiology department at UMKC School of Dentistry, if necessary.
  • Manage the AEGD Residency Program Outlook Calendar and ensure that all course and clinical activities are kept up to date via working closely with the Residency Director.
  • Assist Residency Director with archiving resident records and residency clinical forms as directed.
  • As requested, assist the Advanced Education Office with resident-related forms and scheduling activities.
  • Inventory, maintain, and order supplies and equipment from outside vendors or university departments.
  • Draft correspondence, reports and other materials as requested. Proofread documents, manuals, reports, referrals and consults for completeness and accuracy before forwarding. Provide final copies for review and signature.
  • Sort residency-related mail and information for faculty, staff and residents; Receive and ship packages for the residency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is required. Prefer prior experience related to dental practice environment or dental education.

Other Information

Anticipated starting salary between $18.00 - $20.00 per hour commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.

This position is Full-Time (40 weekly hours) and benefit eligible.
