Job Description
UMKC School of Law has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to fill the position of Law Admissions Director. As theDirector, this individual will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment strategy that supports new student enrollment goals for the Law School. The position is responsible for managing admissions to the Juris Doctorate program and for managing and coordinating resources for the School of Law's scholarship budget. This position reports directly the Dean of UMKC School of Law, and works collaboratively with a team of associate deans, and School of Law faculty in meeting enrollment goals for the School of Law.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of recruitment strategies to meet enrollment needs of UMKC School of Law, including student search, prospect management, and yield efforts that attract an inclusive and highly talented class of graduates.
- Coordinate with faculty admissions committee and associate dean for students to develop admissions policies and objectives
- Coordinate with the Dean to develop policies and objectives for scholarship awards
- Develop Law admissions strategic plan to set priorities and implement procedures
- Direct and assist with Law admissions recruitment events and outreach
- Collaborate with School of Law and our university colleagues in the Office of Admissions, Office of International Student Affairs, and Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships to develop a data-driven approach to admissions, recruitment, and enrollment management.
- Create data and reporting environment using technology and tools.
- Use judgment to make scholarship and Law admission decisions and recommendations consistent with policies and objectives
- Manage and coordinate resources for scholarship budget of over $1 million and operational budget of over $25,000
- Hire, direct, and design professional development plans for admissions staff and a cohort of approximately 40 student volunteers
- Communicate and build relationships and negotiate agreements with external stakeholders and vendors
- Ensure compliance with accreditations standards and reporting obligations
- Manage process for students from initial inquiry through matriculation, including designing orientation programs and other onboarding
- Other duties as assigned
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least four years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- J.D. or Masters in higher ed, counseling, or related fields is preferred
- Experience in admissions, student services or legal fields is strongly preferred

Salary
Up to $65,000 annually, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
