Grant Specialist
(Business Operations Associate I)
Position Description
The Missouri Institute of Mental Health (MIMH) at the University of Missouri-St. Louis oversees grant implementation for federal and state funded research and service grants focused on mental health, health data science, health disparities prevention, treatment, recovery and harm reduction efforts across Missouri.
The Administration Team is currently looking for a Grant Specialist to assist in the pre award grant application and establishment process. The individual will report to the Senior Business Operations Associate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Principal Investigators, funders, UMSL Office of Research and Economic & Community Development, and collaborating agencies on the completion and submission of grant applications.
- Assure compliance with all grant application guidelines and requirements of funding agencies.
- Assist with the development and review of grant budgets, budget justifications, internal documents, and application documents for both MIMH and partner organizations.
- Assist with the processing of the following post award duties: budget revisions, carryover requests, continuation applications, no-cost extensions, change in key personnel, change in scope of work, principal investigator changes, and other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Shift
40 hours per week. Typical business hours.
Salary
Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $17.43 - $24.82 Hourly

University Title: Business Operations Associate I
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as within collaborative team settings.
- Possess strong Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Grants Management Systems skills.
- Experience with grant application and submittal processes.
- Ability to multi-task in a team-oriented environment, managing multiple, competing priorities while demonstrating professionalism and respect.
