The Assistant Director for Research Development is a key team leader in designing, developing, and delivering research development services that support the goals and initiatives of the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research. The incumbent liaises with University and academic unit leadership and faculty to strategize and align institutional priorities with extramural funder priorities. The incumbent manages a suite of information technologies and other services to effectively communicate and support research development initiatives and broad awareness of current federal and non-profit sponsoring agencies funding priorities and grant programs. The Assistant Director for Research Development must have experience in management and supervision in team environments; an understanding of sponsored program funding; knowledge in database and information technologies; and communication skills to address a broad range of stakeholders within and outside of academic environments. Masters degree or Ph.D. is required, and a library science and/or information science background preferred. This position is hybrid or remote, and the remote option will expect three weeks of on-campus work per year.OSP is a mission-driven central office that values a team-oriented culture and actively encourages internal career advancement. Candidates for the position must have at least five years' experience in: management or supervision in team environments; an understanding of sponsored program funding; knowledge in database and information technologies; and communication skills to address a broad range of stakeholders within and outside of academic environments. Microsoft Office and Outlook proficiency required, 365 environment experience preferred. Experience with online databases (Pivot, Web of Science, SciVal, Dimensions), workflow solutions (InfoReady Review, SharePoint), and communications platforms (Campaign Monitor, social media). Awareness of current trends in organizational learning. Library science and/or information science background preferred.
