The Human Resources Specialist supports all aspects of human resources management at Pitt Johnstown. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the specialist is responsible for counseling and orienting new employees regarding benefit eligibility, reviewing and processing all forms related to Payroll and Benefits, Student Hiring Process and supporting the Staff Recruitment & Hiring Process. The position requires extensive knowledge and understanding of university employment policies as well as state and federal requirements related to hiring, supervision and payroll functions. The incumbent must interpret and explain policy and procedures information in order to counsel individual employees with respect to workplace issues, and will make recommendations to the Director or appropriate Employee Relations representative. The Specialist takes a leadership role in assisting the Vice President for Finance and Administration with salary analysis for the budget submission and monitoring.
A Bachelor's Degree and significant computer skills are required for running Oracle, understanding MS Excel and Word and creating data bases.
