THIS POSITION CONSISTS OF HYBRID: COMBINATION OF ON-CAMPUS AND REMOTE WORK AS DETERMINED BY THE DEPARTMENT AND IS OPEN TO APPLICANTS RESIDING IN THE PITTSBURGH, PA OR WASHINGTON, DC AREAS. Manage Pitt Cyber's policy efforts on issues ranging from cybersecurity to algorithmic accountability to disinformation. The Director will build upon current efforts as well as lead research and foster growth in new policy areas. This includes working closely with the Pitt Cyber executive director to manage Pitt Cyber working group efforts from start to finish: seeking funding, developing and running working groups, writing reports, preparing the communications and outreach strategies, and working to secure recommendations. Research and communicate on an array of cyber policy issues, algorithmic transparency, workforce development, artificial intelligence, etc. Draft op-eds, speeches, PowerPoints, and other materials for public consumption and persuasion. Attend external events on behalf of Pitt Cyber and develop relationships with other organizations and experts working in similar areas. Conduct research and analysis of international, federal, and state cyber-related legal and policy issues and develop new policy proposals and recommendations. JD or PhD5-7 years able to work independently with minimal supervision. Analytical skills - extensive level and budget - minimal impact of actions - significant level and nature of contacts - extensive level of decision making - makes sound decisions quickly and can articulate rationales to wide variety of individuals. Significant judgment and discretion involved.
Experience at law firm, government, think tank, or University is a plus. Must have demonstrated experience in managing projects from start to finish. JD or PhD
