The incumbent will establish a resource to provide science writing for the Division of Hematology/Oncology including clinical and research faculty.Incumbent will hold a series of meetings and workshops to inform investigators about the resource and to identify specific individuals who will most benefit from manuscript and grant review. Incumbent is expected to develop a detailed plan that outlines short and long-term goals and objectives and will develop metrics to track impact including funding and publication success. S/he will work with investigators by providing critical support for grant writing, manuscript, LOI and protocol development. Incumbent will work with HCC administration to match funding opportunities with specific individuals and, for multi-investigator grants, including training grants, P01s, U01s, and SPORES. S/he will work with faculty members and clinical investigators to develop and manage a timeline coordinate assembly of the final document, and review to ensure that the individual components are well integrated in the final product.
Master's degree. Scientific background with a minimum of approximately 7 years science-writing experience, preferably with 5 years expertise in NIH grants. An outstanding knowledge of the research environment and an extensive scientific vocabulary. Requires superb communication skills as well as computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, email and web browsers. Significant experience writing about science for both technical reviewers and the public as well as writing science proposals for government agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
