The Executive Vice Chancellor/Chief Operating Officer (EVC/COO) provides leadership, vision, and guidance for the university in all areas of operations by creating internal and external win-win outcomes to achieve organizational objectives and maintain a productive, efficient, and inclusive workplace culture throughout UTHSC. The EVC/COO is a key member of the Chancellor’s leadership cabinet, and will be a forward-thinking, trusted, and solution-oriented partner.

Education: An earned MS, MBA, or equivalent degree with at least seven years of experience in the specified duties and responsibilities. Moreover, an earned completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-to-year basis.

Experience: A progressive history of experience and evidence of career progression in leading and managing a large, complex higher education institution or health care organization with a proven record of success as an operations administrator within a challenging financial environment is required.

The EVC/COO will be an accomplished executive leader with a terminal degree in an appropriate discipline or a record of professional achievement as an effective leader in higher education with health care programs or an academic health science center. The preferred candidate will be an advocate for higher education, have an appreciation and understanding of the role and mission of a public, academic health science center, and have institutional experience working with city/community/government leaders and committees.
