Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is looking for an individual with knowledge and experience in Alumni Relations to fill the Senior Director of Alumni Relations role. This position oversees the team that promotes alumni engagement and fundraising through marketing, outreach, and events. Individuals with knowledge and experience in higher education, customer service, communications, fundraising, and alumni relations are encouraged to apply! Summary of Responsibilities

  • 30% Plans, directs, implements, and assesses both overarching strategy, goals and the daily operation of the university alumni programs. Collaborate with annual giving, directors of development, and donor relations on fundraising campaigns and engagement of alumni. Ensures that the programs follow national best practices and meets the University's near- and long-term goals. Coordinates with Institutional Advancement Departments to ensure accurate and usable alumni data.
  • 30% Provides vision and strategy for programs designed to increase affinity and engagement between alumni, students, parents and UVU through numerous marketing channels, events, activities (such as Homecoming) and benefits. Oversees a team of professionals who plan and implement events to effectively engage alumni and others with the mission of the University and encourage their support.
  • 15% Manages alumni finances which includes generating revenue to fund new and ongoing programs and scholarships through affinity programs, fundraising programs, and special solicitations. Provide direction and oversee marketing and content whether in print or online including managing print costs and mailing lists and editing or writing content for Alumni-specific pages.
  • 15% Leads an alumni advisory board of directors and GOLD Council whose efforts directly align with and support the University's mission and goals. Recruits, orients, trains and manages board and council members; guides committee assignments and tasks; assists the board and council in setting annual and long term goals; meets regularly with board and committees, and evaluates annually the degree to which the Board and council has been effective in discharging its goals.
  • 10% Performs other job related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, plus six years of experience related to the Summary of Duties of the position OR any combination of higher education and/or experience totaling ten years with four years managerial.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of the U.S. higher education environment and academic and alumni culture.
  • Experience working in alumni relations Experience with budget management and strategic planning.
  • Extensive and successful experience working with volunteers including recruiting, training, and implementing strategies for volunteers so that they will be successful. Experience leading and managing a team of professionals Understanding of periodical publication process.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Represent the Office of Alumni Relations and the university at events and programs with alumni, friends of the university, parents, donors, and officials to discuss any facet of the university.
  • Skills in the use of personal computers and Microsoft Office or similar office productivity software applications.
  • Database management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to plan and implement promotional programs.
  • Ability to design and write promotional material.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate a range of special events.
  • Ability to develop, prepare, and deliver effective education programs, seminars and workshops relating to Alumni Relations.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Exceptional ability to recruit, develop and supervise volunteers.
