We research solutions to societal challenges and ignite transformative innovation that matters to the people who need us most. We prove every day that different works. We are united by purpose, devoted to inclusion and driven by impact.

VCU is located in downtown Richmond with national and international rankings in sponsored research. VCU enrolls nearly 30,000 students in more than 200 degree and certificate programs in the arts, sciences and humanities. Twenty-nine of the programs are unique in Virginia, many of them crossing the disciplines of VCU’s 11 schools and three colleges and a robust Division of Student Affairs to support student success and well-being. The VCU Health brand represents the health sciences schools of VCU, the VCU Massey Cancer Center and the VCU Health System. VCU Health comprises VCU Medical Center (the only academic medical center and Level I trauma center in the region), Community Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, MCV Physicians and Virginia Premier Health Plan. Today, VCU serves an integral role in the economic health of the city of Richmond and the region by educating the current and future workforce, advancing research and enhancing patient care.

Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

It is our belief that diversity through inclusion and engagement drive an organization’s performance. For diversity to have the greatest impact, people must perceive their environment as fair, open, enlightening and empowering. These inclusive environments lead not only to greater diversity, but to greater engagement among faculty and staff, which in turn has a positive influence on student performance. Community Engagement and Impact

The lines of VCU’s urban campus blur with Richmond, and VCU has a real impact on the city.
