The Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department of the College of Engineering seeks culturally and professionally diverse candidates to apply for Adjunct Faculty (open rank) position. Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative, real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Comprised of five different departments plus the Dean's office, the College of Engineering enrolls more than 1,700 undergraduate and 250 graduate students in several degree programs supported by approximately 550 full-time, part-time, and student employees. Position Responsibilities:
The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering is recruiting for adjunct faculty members (open rank) to teach Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering courses which may include mechanical system design and non-destructive testing. Job duties will include:
-preparing and delivering lectures
-preparing and assigning homework problems and exams
-grading homework problems and exams and assigning final course grades
-holding office hours and answering student questions
Required Qualifications:
-MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field
-Knowledge of solid mechanics and materials

-Excellent written and oral communications skills
Preferred Qualifications:
-A minimum of five years of relevant academic experience
-PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field
-Knowledge of mechanical system design, non-destructive testing, computer-aided engineering design
