Position Summary & Primary Responsibilities:
We are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. David Wheeler in the Biostatistics department at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) to conduct federally funded research on methods for analyzing environmental risk factors for cancer. This postdoctoral researcher position is available immediately to develop and apply methods for modeling historic environmental exposure effects and spatial risk over time for cancer outcomes. The project includes simulation studies and comparisons of health effects using different data sources in addition to applications to existing cancer studies.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field. Experience in spatial statistics, Bayesian analysis, geographic information systems, and R programming is required. Good communication skills and experience writing scientific manuscripts are needed. Ability to work both independently and as a part of a research team is essential. We will provide supervision and ongoing training in the form of one‐on‐one mentoring and workshops as needed, and the opportunity to attend domestic or international conferences.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent writing skills, multiple scientific publications, training in epidemiology, and the ability to work with multiple data sets with residential histories. An interest in advancing publication record and contributing to the scientific literature.
