The Department of Economics and Finance in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business is accepting applications for a position at the level of assistant/associate professor to begin in the spring of 2021 or fall of 2021.Area of Specialization:
Preference will be given to candidates with a focus in Financial Planning. Secondary desired fields include Risk Management/Insurance, Financial Markets and Institutions, and Investments.Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Primary job duties include teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, engaging in scholarship commensurate with the mission, service/outreach to the University and community, academic advising, and mentoring. Candidates must demonstrate an effective teaching style that supports a diverse student body. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the department's continuous (since 2002) CFP Board registration and further development of the financial planning track.Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or DBA in Finance or Financial Planning from a highly rated institution. If ABD; would be hired at the rank of Instructor, with the expectation that the candidate completes the doctoral degree within one year of date of hire.Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with documented excellence in both teaching and scholarship along with evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. Desired qualifications include CFP certification or similar relevant professional designation in financial planning, wealth management or other related professional specialties. Candidate is highly encouraged to earn the certification within three years of appointment.
