Widener University is currently seeking a full time, 10-month Assistant Professor in Nursing with a specialty focus in leadership beginning Fall semester 2021. This role reports to the Dean of the school of nursing and is located on the Chester, PA campus. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for teaching leadership content across undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The candidate will engage in student advisement for DNP projects and advisement of students in the master's Executive Nurse Leadership option. Responsibilities also include engagement in clinical practice/scholarship, participation in the shared governance system of the School of Nursing and University, and mentorship of students across programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :

Essential duties:
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate content using evidence-based teaching strategies to ensure student outcomes
  • Scholarly productivity
  • Clinical practice as required by certification
  • Mentoring/advisement to students.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention activities
  • Engage in service to the university, School of Nursing, and community.
  • Contribute to the creation of an environment that promotes diversity, inclusivity, growth, equality, and freedom of speech.

Secondary responsibilities:
  • Develop continuing education opportunities
  • Foster inter-professional learning experiences
  • Community and civic engagement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required) :

  • Earned Research Doctorate for tenure-track or Practice Doctorate for clinical track
  • Master's degree in Nursing or MBA
  • Licensure as a registered nurse and eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in practice in progressive leadership roles
  • One (1) year of academic or clinical teaching experience. Clinical teaching may include preceptor and staff development experience.

  • Certification as a CNML or CENP
  • Certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE)
  • Program of research with expertise in quantitative methodologies.

  • May teach evening classes
  • Participation in some weekend recruitment activities may be required
