Biomedical Engineering Tenure-Track Faculty Position

Widener University is currently seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. This role reports to the chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and provides support to the School of Engineering.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (including, but not limited to)

Essential duties:
  • Teach and develop courses (including laboratory and design courses) for the biomedical engineering undergraduate and graduate curricula.
  • Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed technical journals.
  • Develop and sustain an externally funded research program.
  • Advise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Work collegially in support of the continuing growth of the biomedical engineering department and the School of Engineering.
  • Participation in faculty governance, and service to the profession and to the community

Secondary responsibilities:
  • Additional duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required) :

Required:
  • Earned doctorate in biomedical engineering or a closely-related field.
  • Research or industrial experience in biomaterials and/or cell and tissue engineering.
  • Candidates should be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomedical engineering.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to excellence in engineering education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
  • May teach evening or online classes.
  • Participation in some evening or weekend activities may be required.
