Columbia University Department of Pediatrics invites applications and nominations for the position of Chief, Division of Pediatric Cardiology.
The Division of Pediatric Cariology, with a decades long history of clinical excellence and innovation, is poised for growth under the direction of its next Chief who will have the opportunity to significantly shape the Division’s future with continued investment planned for expansion of its clinical and research programs. The Chief will be expected to continue the growth of the Division’s renowned clinical enterprise while fostering growth of research activities and championing their translation into the clinical enterprise with the goal of impacting patient care, and by so doing, position the Division at the forefront of academic pediatric cardiology programs in the nation.
The Chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology will oversee the Division’s faculty and guide their career development, establish collaborative interactions with other divisions and collaborating departments, and lead efforts to create a vibrant program of scholarship built on an outstanding clinical enterprise leveraging the institution’s extraordinary education and research assets. The Chief will have the opportunity to aid in the recruitment of key faculty and leadership positions within the Division. The selected candidate will be a highly visible leader who will become one of the faces of this major program within internal and external communities.
The ideal candidate for the leadership role is a clinician-scholar with experience in the application of new knowledge to the practice of clinical medicine and a track record of leading and/or supporting extramurally funded research. She/he is expected to be a nationally respected academic pediatric cardiologist with a distinguished track record and a minimum of 10 years of experience as a clinician, educator and investigator with experience in leading programs and projects. The next Chief will exhibit the qualities required for being a successful leader in a complex, matrixed environment, including the ability to work collaboratively across the various organizational units of the Department, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Weil Cornell Medical Center, and NewYork-Presbyterian, and effectively promote the Pediatric Cardiology Division with community providers, and organization leaders, donors, and other pertinent external entities.
