Cloud Cybersecurity Architect

The Information Security Office at Yale University in New Haven, CT is seeking an experienced Cloud Cybersecurity Architect. 

This is a new hands-on technical role at Yale with significant autonomy.  You will lead the Cloud security strategy, design and implementation at one of the world’s top research universities.


Responsibilities Include:

Lead the strategy, design, development, and implementation of security architecture in Azure, AWS and other cloud and hybrid cloud environments in use at Yale.

Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the University to secure the use of cloud services and protect Yale data in support of the University’s academic, research and administrative mission.

Ensure that cloud security is a first-class citizen in security monitoring, incident response, forensics, vulnerability management, secure configuration and operations, application security, intrusion detection/prevention and network security.

Build architectures, policies, standards and guidelines for the use of cloud services.

Develop and promote risk based decision-making processes for the architecture and operation of cloud services.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field and ten years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of and experience with a broad set of security technologies and processes - secure software development, application security, data protection, cryptography, key management, identity and access management, and network security within cloud environments.

Knowledge of and experience with deployment orchestration, automation, and security configuration management.

Knowledge of and experience with security control configuration in at least one of the major cloud providers in use at Yale – Azure, AWS

Knowledge of and experience with technology infrastructure design, provisioning, deployment and capacity management for complex applications running on multiple platforms and technologies.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts and risk at varying levels of the organization.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with security control configuration in multiple major cloud providers – Azure, AWS, GCP

Experience with enterprise virtualization (VMware)

Experience with containers and container management frameworks

Experience as a system, network or database administrator

Experience as a software developer

Experience performing threat modeling and security design reviews.
