Job Information

The Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for two nine-month, full-time, Open Rank Tenure-Track Professor positions in Counselor Education beginning August 2022. Expertise in School Counseling is desired for one position, while the other may specialize in Mental Health, Rehabilitation or School Counseling.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate ( Ph. D., Ed. D., Rh. D.) in Counseling, Counselor Education and Supervision, Rehabilitation Counseling, Mental Health Counseling or other closely related discipline from a CACREP-accredited university; strong professional identity as a counselor; evidence of commitment to the profession of counseling (e.g., publication in refereed counseling journals, appropriate certifications, leadership in counseling organizations, successful clinical experience); strong evidence of effective and diverse university teaching experience. The successful candidate must have an ability to use technology as a teaching tool and will have demonstrated the ability to teach and work meaningfully with persons from culturally-rich and linguistically-diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities: Conducting scholarly research publication, teaching, advising, supervising practicum and internship students; serving on departmental, college and university committees; providing service to the university and community; presenting scholarly work at professional counseling conferences; working closely with program, departmental and university partners to continually improve the program. Evidence of successful teaching in the eight CACREP content areas is preferred.

The Counselor Education program within the Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology is CACREP-accredited and offers the Master of Science degree program with tracks in, Clinical Mental Health, Rehabilitation and School Counseling. The department also houses graduate programs in School Psychology, and Recreation and Sports Management. Opportunities for cross-disciplinary teaching, research, and service are encouraged.
