Job Information

The Liberal Studies Program invites applications from academically qualified and professionally experienced individuals for a non-tenure track, 9 or 12-month, open-rank Teaching Professor (Instructor) position. Our growing and energetic Program awards three undergraduate degrees: the Liberal Studies BA, the Interdisciplinary Studies BA, and the Natural and Applied Sciences BA. A successful candidate will have an interdisciplinary background, in any combination of disciplines and have a solid teaching background. We are interested in and open to a wide range of pedagogical interests including but not limited to the humanities, sciences, and social sciences. We seek a new colleague who is creative in course and assignment design that focuses on active-learning and other student-engagement strategies, excited to innovate and explore, and invested in fostering success among students who may have gaps in their foundational education.

Job duties include teaching undergraduate courses offered by the program and contributing to faculty committees that design and assess Program courses. The course load is 4/4 for 9-month faculty and 4/4/3 for 12-month faculty. This position is renewable, contingent upon budget, and offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Minimum requirements: Candidates should hold an MA in any discipline. Those with a demonstrated commitment to including diverse backgrounds and perspectives to learning, scholarship, service, and leadership in the academy are particularly welcome to apply, as are those who earned their MA or PhD at FIU.
