The Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education at Florida

International University, invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, Clinical Assistant Professor position in Kinesiology and Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning, for an anticipated start date of August, 2022.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biomechanics, Applied Physiology, Human Performance or closely related field

Desired Qualifications:
- Practical field experience in sport performance or strength and conditioning and the capacity to perform/demonstrate Olympic lifting and sports performance skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses
- Interest in collaborating with current program faculty, faculty and other departments across FIU (e.g., Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Dietetics and Nutrition, Athletics, etc.,)
- Demonstrated commitment to addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Experience with and commitment to community, national and international enterprises dedicated to improved health, wellness and human performance

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate, and sometimes graduate, courses in Kinesiology and Exercise Science with expertise in Strength and Conditioning. Specifically, teach three courses in the Department of Teaching and Learning during Fall and Spring semesters. Contribute to the Department, College, and University through service and committee involvement. Other responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
- Teach courses in areas of expertise within the Physical Education and Kinesiology & Exercise Science programs; however, primary teaching assignment will be at the undergraduate level.
- Contribute to ongoing programmatic development within the Physical Education and Kinesiology & Exercise Science programs.
- Contribute to the Department, College, and University through service and committee involvement and community outreach.
- Conduct basic and/or action research within area of expertise and apply for grants where applicable.
- Mentor students through academic advising, research and professional development activities.

Teaching, Service and Research assignment loads will be determined by the Teaching and Learning department chair.
