Technology Support Services
The IT Generalist I is assigned duties via his/her immediate supervisor, which can change daily, or even at a moment's
notice. However, the critical duties for this position are:
Manage and update images to accommodate migration of all desktops in computer labs, classrooms, consoles, laptop
carts, faculty, and staff throughout the enterprise to the latest Microsoft Windows operating systems and and Microsoft
Office productivity software.
Implement past practices and develop new strategies to maintain integrity and security of enterprise-wide desktops in
common use lab environments, specialized lab environments, and various faculty and staff implementations.
Work with faculty members to accommodate specialized computer classroom and computer lab educational application
Analyze legacy applications and applications not designed to function in a locked down computing environment.
Develop and implement modifications and strategies required to enable these applications to function properly.
Provide second level support and assistance to peer IT Technicians as well as members of the networking and server groups.
Work closely with members of both networking and server groups when issues requiring technical escalation, cooperation and expertise.
Work with Instructional Technology to insure technology for training requirements are properly implemented and functional in lab environment.
Test and evaluate products and applications associated with departmental administrative applications.
Assess capabilities of current computer resources for migration to a new computing environment by performing interoperability tests on operating system, network, and application software.
Utilize technology for information technology application project development and completion.
Provide user support for packaged and in-house software.
Perform related work as required.
An associate's degree in any IT field and one year of IT experience in applications development/maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development/design or other technology support services or three years of IT experience in applications development/maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development/design or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
A successful interview and passing a criminal history check required.
Preference will be given to applicants that have a Bachelors degree in an Information Technology field and demonstrated work experience in the following areas; Quest Kace SMA and SDA , Windows OS patching, Feature updates, Active Directory, Group Policy, Azure, PowerShell scripting, specialized training and professional certifications in systems management and automated OS deployment and experience working with diverse populations.
