We serve students from across Yale’s campus through non-academic programs, funding, and mentoring.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Managing Director is a key member of the Tsai CITY senior leadership team.


Essential Duties:

  • Work with the Executive Director to plan strategic priorities for marketing and communications, programming, and personnel.
  • Budget management.
  • Oversee communications and marketing.
  • Design, lead, and execute on programming within the local community.
  • Liaise with the Student Advisory Board, student entrepreneurship clubs, and Yale cultural centers.
  • Supervise several direct reports.
  • Manage all processes for student grant awards.
  • Participate on committees and deliver presentations.
  • Serve as in-house diversity, equity and inclusion lead.
  • Report key performance indicators for all programs.
  • Recruit and manage student employees.
  • Provide guidance and advising to students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Experience in entrepreneurship and innovation in one or more of the following areas: founded or joined an early stage startup or nonprofit organization and/or served in a leadership role or problem-solving role in a university or other early stage entrepreneurship ecosystem.
  • Marketing and/or communications background.
  • Student advising, mentoring, coaching, or teaching experience. Ability to connect with students through conversation and listening.
  • Commitment to diversity, interdisciplinary exploration, curiosity, humility, and optimism; respectful of all lived and learned experiences.
  • Comfort in a leadership/supervisory role and working independently, while simultaneously seeking and valuing collaboration. Clear oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred Education and Experience: Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field. Master's Degree preferred. Experience in an organization that supports entrepreneurs/innovators on a variety of pathways to pursue their interests. Comfort with a variety of software platforms for managing projects, such as, Slack, Trello, Airtable, Google Drive, Salesforce, and MS Office. Adept at learning new software tools.
