The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Missouri is seeking outstanding applicants for a Kummer Endowed Professorship in Electrical Engineering who will have a high degree of synergy and collaboration on research with the Missouri S&T Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Laboratory. Preference will be given to applicants who can contribute to the department's strengths, particularly in the areas of electromagnetic compatibility, electromagnetic susceptibility, signal integrity, VLSI, packaging, and silicon photonics. Competitive salary commensurate with the rank and qualifications of the candidates will be offered.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or other related disciplines such as physics or similar fields. Candidates from national laboratories or industry with a strong research record coupled with academic experience are encouraged to apply as well. Successful candidates will be expected to have strong commitments to (a) contributing to the departmental and college research efforts, (b) high-quality teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, (c) service in the applicant's professional community and our institution, and (d) increasing the diversity of both the student body and faculty. Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in research and evidence of potential for excellence in external funding, high-quality teaching, service, and increasing diversity.
The ECE department has 32 faculty members, approximately 500 undergraduate and 150 graduate students, and had research expenditures of approximately $4M in the past fiscal year. The Missouri S&T EMC Laboratory is a team of approximately 60 people including 3 tenure-track faculty, 2 research professors, several post-docs, and 40-50 graduate students. It is considered internationally to be one of the top research institutions in the area. The laboratory has a $10M+ experimental facility to support experimental and industry-based research. It has research expenditures of ~$2M per year with funding from both federal and industry sources. A significant portion of the research is funded through the highly successful NSF I/UCRC comprised of over 20 industry partners, e.g. IBM, Intel, Cisco, Sony, Google, and Boeing.
