Job Description

Basic Function & Responsibilities:

This position is critical for recruitment and retention. This employee receives all front desk visitors and answers/routes international office phone calls. Duties include pre-screening calls, email and pre-interviewing international students to ascertain their needs in an attempt to provide immediate assistance other duties as assigned.

Job Functions:
  • Complete an initial review of documents submitted by students and scholars as part of the I-20/DS-2019 issuance process
  • Manage the department email account read emails, respond and/or forward as appropriate, manage folders, etc.
  • Review request documents and forms submitted by students and scholars, check for completeness, explain form, answer questions, and forward as appropriate.
  • Process requests for mailing documents (FedEx, UPS, DHL)
  • Process requests for letters (late arrival, concurrent enrollment, program participation, etc.)
  • Route documents in Perceptive Content
  • Oversee student workers, manage their schedules, and assign tasks
  • Welcome and check-in newly arrived students at the beginning of each semester
  • Welcome visitors to the office in a professional and warm manner
  • Organize documents for pick up by students and scholars
  • Update forms as needed
  • Monitor supplies and equipment and work with other staff members to purchase needed items
  • Answer the main department phone line, answer questions or route as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Utilizes working knowledge and learned skills to perform various activities for the job.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of specific processes and procedures needed to perform assignment within own work area.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of various computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Perceptive Content, Slate, PeopleSoft)
  • Two years' experience in an office environment
  • Demonstrated skills must show competency to utilize computer-based office software.
  • Must be supportive of international students and a diverse and dynamic environment.
