Job Description

This position is responsible for implementing effective marketing and communication strategies, plans, programs, and materials for the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, with emphasis in student recruiting and connection with external stakeholders including our Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers. This position will require skills in strategic communications with a focus on storytelling in print and social media and the strategic design and development of educational and promotional materials, such as curriculum, publications, displays, booklets and web elements. Ability to collect and analyze data related to academic performance is critical for creating appropriate narratives. Ability to successfully work remotely is advantageous.

  • Prepare news releases, news and feature stories and other written materials that highlight students, research activities, and events.
  • Managing editor annual alumni newsletter, e-newsletter, and annual scholarly activity report
  • Web author and manager for the department, Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers, and the Center for Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies websites
  • Creating and maintaining brochures, flyers, postcards, powerpoint presentations and various types of print and electronic media
  • Manage departmental electronic communications, including social media accounts
  • Collect and maintain scholarly activities data
  • Creating department marketing campaigns to target stakeholders
  • Coordinate with S&T marketing and communications for public relations, photography and videography needs
  • Plan and assist with departmental events including the annual Academy of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers events
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

  • Microsoft Office including Access

  • Self-starter who can work independently
